The Difference between Love and Like

Like means a sudden thought of him while reading at midnight and picturing what he is doing at the moment. But it never occurs to you to call him up. Several minutes later, you will find yourself engaged in the book again.

Love means when he is with you, he is the only one in your eyes; when he is away, everything bears his image. Love means a flood of longings for him at lonely nights. Book in hand, but absent-minded, you cannot help thinking if he is working overtime, if he is thinking of you as much as you are.



Like means arguing with him unyeildingly, though secretly admiring his insight and talent.

Love means wishing to stay in tune with him. A careless joke from him is enough to bring tears to your eyes. Always remain unguarded before him.



Like means sending him a text message, telling him that it is fine away from home. Then turn off the phone and have a good time for a week. And surprise him with your tanned skin. Love means wanting his company wherever you go; calling him by the seaside, just to let him hear the sound of the waves; feeling dumbfounded at the sight of a man who looks just like him.



Like means saying "have a nice trip" before he goes on business and silently waiting him to come back. Love means stuffing him luggage with clothes, food and kind words; not leaving unitil you lose sight of the train; saying prayers every day for his safty and in hopes of his early arrival.



Like means reluctance to show your weak side when you feel hurt. It means secretly drying away your tears and turning to him with a happy face. Love means buring your head in his chest to have a good cry when you feel injured; pouring out your grievance unreservedly; looking for comfort in his embrace.



Like means going to Kentucky when tired from weekend shopping; fighting for a hot coke in a cold winter day; walking with him on the street and deliberately keeping half-a-meter distance from him; playing computer games with him and laughing like kids.

Love means cooking his favorite dishes at weekend and watching him eating with satisfaction; pouring his cup continuously with hot coffee in winter; walking with your hand held tightly in his; sitting quietly beside him while he is working intently on the computer.



Like means laughing heartily at his childhood stories and feeling touched by them. Love means smiling at his childhood mischief, and feeling even tenderer toward this man who was a naughty boy.



Like means saying hello and a few exchanging words to him when running into him in the corridor and feeling lifted up when the two of you depart. Love means spotting him in the corridor, but pretending not having seen him; and turning around When he passes by, sensitive to the vibration of the air.



Like means feeling your heart aching with pain at the sight of him holding the hand of another girl. But presently, you will be back to good spirit again. Love means a game that you cannot afford to lose. When you have devoted your whole being, what is left might only be a scar marked in the bottom of your heart.
